How to install and use the WaterGate cap
- 1. Remove the original cap: Unscrew the cap from your wide-mouth bottle and set it aside. If the bottle has a removable mouthpiece or straw, take that off as well. Check that the bottle threads are clean and dry before inserting the WaterGate.
- 2. Insert the WaterGate into the bottle neck: Place the WaterGate silicone insert into the mouth of the bottle, with the flat side facing down and the raised edge pointing up. Press it gently until it sits flush against the rim. Don't force it—if it doesn't sit flat, the bottle neck may be too narrow or too wide.
- 3. Screw the original cap back on: Align the cap over the WaterGate and screw it on as you normally would. The cap will hold the insert in place securely. A common mistake is overtightening, which can deform the silicone and reduce its spill-proof effect.
- 4. Test the flow: Fill the bottle with water, tilt it to drink, and observe the flow. The WaterGate should reduce splashing while still allowing a steady stream. If you notice gurgling or restricted flow, remove the cap and re-center the WaterGate.
